Epilepsy Foundation Scholarships

National

The Epilepsy Foundation Scholarships page offers national and local scholarship opportunities for students living with epilepsy or supporting someone who has it. Programs like the UCB Family Epilepsy Scholarship and various state-based awards help cover college or trade school costs. Each scholarship has its own eligibility requirements, so applicants are encouraged to check their local Epilepsy Foundation chapter for current opportunities.

Iowa State University H.S Ostlin Memorial Scholarship

State

One $1,000 scholarship is available to incoming first-year who are full-time students and residents of one of the following Iowa counties: Dallas, Jasper, Marion, Marshall, Polk, Story, Warren. Preference is given to those students enrolled in the College of Engineering. Selection is based on academic excellence. Although financial need is not an absolute requirement, only in the most exceptional case will a scholarship be awarded to a student not demonstrating financial need. Renewal is based on grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

LULAC National Scholarships

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for a scholarship:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or be granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

  • Must have applied to or be enrolled as a full-time student in a college or university, including 2-year colleges, or vocational schools that lead to an associate’s degree. Graduate students must have applied to or be enrolled as a part-time student in a college or university.

  • A student will not be eligible for a scholarship if he/she is related to a scholarship committee member, the Council President, or an individual contributor to the local funds of the Council.

Eligibility Criteria

Generally, high school seniors who graduated in 2024 or will graduate with the class of 2025 are eligible for the All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship if they meet the following criteria:

  • Iowa resident

  • Attending an eligible Iowa college or university

  • Must have graduated from an eligible Iowa high school or completed a high school equivalency diploma within the last 2 years (students in foster care are exempt from this requirement)

  • Be a first-time college freshman in the fall 2025 or spring 2026 semesters (unless you are renewing your scholarship award, or unless you aged out of foster care)

  • Must be continuously enrolled in college and continuously receiving a scholarship disbursement to renew a scholarship (students who were in foster care are exempt from this requirement)

  • Enroll for at least 3 semester hours (or the trimester or quarter equivalent) in a program leading to an undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Iowa Financial Aid Application by April 1, 2025.

  • Have an eligible Student Aid Index (SAI) on the 2025-26 FAFSA. The SAI range for scholarship eligibility for 2025-26 is (-1,500) - 10,669.

Iowa Scholarship for the Arts

    1. A copy of your most recent academic transcript from your school. Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher is required.

    2. Two letters of recommendation that state the strengths and character of the applicant. The name, address and phone number of the person writing the recommendation, as well as the nature of the relationship (cannot be an immediate family member) and the length of time the applicant has been known by said individual, must be included.

    3. A 300-500 word essay discussing one of the following two topics: 

      • Your educational plan stating how this scholarship will help further your education; or 

      • How being a multiple has impacted you and advice you would give to parent(s) who are raising multiple-birth children. 

    4. An acceptance letter from the college, university, trade or vocation school you plan to attend or an enrollment verification letter from the registrar’s office if currently enrolled in the institution. An enrollment verification letter will also be required upon the start of the term.

    5. Copies of Birth Certificates for the applicant and the multiple birth child(ren) in order to verify multiple birth family status.

Criteria for the recipient include:  high academic achievement, athletic ability, citizenship, and leadership in the school and community. Representatives of the teaching staff, administration, and the Atwood family, if available, will choose the recipient.  The counselor, superintendent, athletic director, and a core teacher for the senior class will be involved in the selection process, if applicable. The Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:

Each recipient of the Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship must be:

  1.   Of a Protestant faith,

Story County Master Gardener Scholarship

Local

This merit-based scholarship will award up to $1000 based on applicant’s demonstrated leadership and initiative, community involvement and service, passion and enthusiasm for their field of study, and career goals and future aspirations. Qualifications

  • The Robert Smiley Scholarship is for senior girls enrolled full-time in a public or private Iowa high school.   

  • The recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale).

  • She must also have lettered in one varsity sport sponsored by the IGHSAU each year of high school.  

  • Each high school is limited to one nomination.  The local school shall determine how the nominee is selected. Accompanying the scholarship application must be two letters of recommendation from a school faculty member and/or administrator AND a 200-word essay by the nominee describing adversity she faced and/or overcame to make her the person she is today.

The LWV-ASC will award scholarships ranging from $300 to $500 to students beginning college in the 2026-2027 academic year. Utility-Focused Scholarship

DMACC Accumold Scholarships

The Accumold Scholars site describes a scholarship program in partnership with DMACC (Des Moines Area Community College) that supports students in vocational/technical fields like tool & die making, robotics & control systems, and industrial technician tracks. It covers full technical coursework in those programs and provides an “End of Semester” fund; recipients are generally expected to work part-time at Accumold during their schooling, with the possibility (but not guarantee) of full-time employment afterward.
